(More customer reviews)I bought the Starmate 4 and installed it using the included fm modulator and antenna. The small metropolis I live in leaves few unused frequencies. Radio worked fine only when not in proximity to interfering items (metal stoplights, power lines, etc). I would rate the radio "audible 65% of the time" in urban driving--unsat overall. I bought the adapter and bided my time. Install was quick, basically shunting the existing fm antenna connection into the radio. I required nothing but the adapter. Now static and interference is gone. This thing does exactly what its supposed to.
Bottom line--if you're buying a satellite radio as an add-on using an fm modulator, buy one of these. Save the shipping and get it at the same time, you WILL need it and it WILL work.
