(More customer reviews)you actually need the SCH1 which is the adapter for home audio receivers. i have the same setup with the 2400es and the SCH1 and it works perfectly. Not sure how hard it is to find but I still find it on Amazon and Crutchfield but also shows no longer available at Newegg. But, places like TSS Radio specialize in stuff like this.
the SCHDOC1P is the dock for portable receivers which means the receiver already has the brains built into it. the home receivers do NOT actually have the receivers built into the units so the SCH1 is actually the brains that are included in the portable or car units but are not in the receivers like the 2400ES. it was a way to reduce space in the receiver to allow other stuff in there and no reason to add the cost if not everyone will use it.
now for everyone else who wants to do this i learned alot from my install. the SCH1 come with an antenna but it is the folding type that sits on a window sill. but, you can also buy an external antenna BUT this is what I want to notify people about. I installed a Sirius branded external antenna which mounts to the side of your house. it really helped out on reception but the problem with this is that they cannot have more than about 50 ft of cable between the antenna and SCH1 because there is signal loss and you will get a red light showing on the SCH1 which means there is signal loss. If you have less than 50 ft you can go with the normal external antenna. However, my installation was a little farther after running through the attic, down the wall, etc.
So, I purchased the Pixel Satellite Radio branded antenna which is actually powered internally and you can extend the length on the install AND more importantly it comes with splitters that can allow you to wire to MULTIPLE rooms if you have multiple receivers - say one with an SCH1 at your 2400ES and then another room like your garage or maybe a Sirius Boombox in the garage.
Pixel now has 2 different types of external powered antennas. One is a dedicated Sirius or dedicated XM that has to be aim towards the correct satellite. The new style is a universal that receives both XM and Sirius simultaneously and it like the other sirius antennas that just lie horizontal with no aiming.
If you listen to AM/FM or even HD Radio (which the 2400Es does NOT have) then you can also do what I did which was buy the Sirius antenna and their 4 ft long whip style antenna that boosts AM and FM and HD Radio reception. then that antenna comes with a joiner (opposite of a a splitter) that allows you to join the Sirius antenna wire and AM/FM antenna wire on a single coax cable into the house to simplify installation.
