(More customer reviews)This is a solid unit and if you are considering buying a lifetime agreement with Sirius but may want to change your Alpine head in the future, this is a smart way to go as it will work well for years even if it accidentally gets wet or soaked in my case (after Tropical Storm Fay in 2008). Sirius' lifetime agreement calls for a $75 service fee each time you change equipment, however, if you change head units or move this to a new car either way keeping this little receiver, you save that fee. However, note this is not XM capatible, so you cannot have Sirius and XM with this unit.
Had this professionally installed and attached to my Alpine CDA9856 three years ago. Works seemlessly through the head unit. Had it move and reinstalled a year after purchase to accomodate a powered sub I wanted under the passenger's seat, so this was moved under the driver's seat. To my luck, the installer (same as the original) used a straight wire rather than a switching wire which caused my battery to drain repeatly. By the time the problem began, the installer, Sound Advice or Twitter, went out of business. So it took two years and several mechanics (including the dealership (Subaru) would did not locate the problem but overcharged me for other unneeded work) to find the tiny little problem behind the radio. Moral of the story, those buying this unit, make sure you have solid, local support should something go wrong.
