(More customer reviews)I own a 2005 Chevy Silverado that has an in-dash 6 disc, AM/FM stereo with factory XM module installed and steering wheel controls. After shopping around for a few months looking at other products-some cheap "no name" brands and even the high end Scosche models, I finally decided on purchasing this product. This is by far the best upgrade to my factory GM radio!
The installation process was a breeze and I found the perfect spot for me to place the interface was a crevice found under the AC duct leading to the center air deflector (removal of the bezel under the vent is required). I ran the wiring harness up and behind the steel vertical dash support mount that is directly behind the radio unit and brought the harness back out through the left side of the mount and plugged in the head unit. The hardest part was determining where I wanted to run the iPod and auxilary cables through. I will be glad to email pictures to anyone if you contact me through this post.
One major plus that isn't mentioned anywhere is that if your phone is plugged in via the auxilary input it will act as a hands free device using your vehicle's speakers (calls must be placed and answered through your phone). Perfect for states that are adopting the hands free laws. Another plus is if your vehicle has steering wheel controls, no separate interface is needed to be able to use them to control the seek and volume buttons as well as OnStar.
My only con, if that, is getting used to the iPod menu controls from the stereo and customizing what is displayed on the stereo display (song title, artist, playlist title, genre, elapsed time). My suggestion is to do this when you're not driving.
Other then that, STOP LOOKING! This is the product to buy.
