The unit works great... once I fixed a major fault! The head unit was saying "no sat" after installation. I did some searching for the problem since I have a code 8 radio. Turns out a wire was missplaced in the mass production of the harness. If you have a problem and the pair of orange wires is NOT next to the yellow one, you have to either return the harness for a fixed one, or move the wires next to the yellow one yourself. I did it myself by using two pins like you would find in a new suit shirt or for tailoring placed on the sides to release it.
I hope this helps someone!! Otherwise, it is really nice to have the controls through the factory radio.

If your new vehicle has a factory-installed XM satellite-ready radio, you're halfway on the path to enjoying more than 150 channels of all-digital satellite entertainment. Now you can finish the job with the Terk XM Direct adapter kit. Compatible with select Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles, this XM Direct kit includes everything you need to play XM over your compatible factory stereo--specifically, an XM universal tuner box, a roof-mount antenna, a smart digital adapter, and all the requisite cables. The components integrate directly with your XM satellite-ready car stereo, letting you control the XM features through your stereo's existing buttons and knobs.
The XM Direct is also notably compact, installing discreetly behind the dashboard to maintain an uncluttered appearance. Perhaps just as convenient are the plug-and-play connections, which make installation a breeze. The only slightly tricky item is the micro antenna, but even that is straightforward, with a magnetic mount that attaches securely to the outside of your vehicle. The adapter cable even includes a pass-through for keeping an extra component, such as a CD changer, connected to the system.
So why pay the dealer to install your XM radio system when you can do it yourself? The universal tuner box measures 3.81 by 4.38 by 1.38 inches (W x H x D) while the adapter checks in at 3.12 by 3.62 by 1.12 inches. The antenna cable, meanwhile, is 19.75 feet long. The bundle is backed by a one-year warranty.
Note: You must subscribe to XM satellite radio and own a Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicle with a satellite-ready car stereo to use this adapter kit.
What's in the Box Universal XM tuner, magnetic micro antenna with 19.75-foot cable, XM channel guide, smart digital adapter, 36-inch DIN cable, 15-inch cable harness, 37-inch RCA cable, quick start manual, installation guide.
